COPS Racing/Langley Productions Offers $10,000 Bonus to First Place Finisher in Class 4 at 43rd Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 Ensenada to La Paz Peninsula Run.

As a special incentive to help bolster entries for the relatively new Class 4, Langley Productions owner and SCORE racer John Langley of COPS Racing has posted a winner-take-all $10,000 bonus to the first place class finisher in this unlimited open-wheel, single or two-seat desert race car with either a limited 2.2 liter or 2.4 liter GMC Ecotec sealed engine.

COPS Racing, named for the popular COPS television series produced by Langley Productions, has three vehicles entered in three different classes at this year's Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 Ensenada to La Paz Peninsula Run.

Class 4, one of the newest SCORE race classes, is designed for the chassis of both the current Class 1 and Class 10 catagories, according to SCORE Tech Director Bill Savage. To be legal in Class 4, existing Class 1 and Class 10 vehicles must use either a stock sealed GMC Ecotec 2.2 liter engine for a single-seater or a stock sealed GMC Ecotec 2.4 liter engine for a two-seater. The engine must remain stock as delivered by the manufacturer. Furthermore, the engine must be sealed by SCORE prior to being installed into the race vehicle, and must use a stock Delphi MEFI ECU.

SCORE Tech Director Bill Savage has also reported that the current Class 2 vehicles are legal to run in Class 4 for this year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 for a shot at the $10,000 COPS Racing/Langley Productions $10,000 cash bonus. Class 2 will be permanently merged into Class 4 in 2011.
