Ensenada-Baja California, Mexico (65 miles south of U.S./Mexico Border at San Diego)
WHO:
Nearly 250 entries from 30 States and seven countries (U.S., Mexico, Canada, Finland, Germany, Guatemala, Japan and U.S. Territory of Guam)
COURSE: TOTAL MILEAGE: 454.69 miles (4 checkpoints, 36 virtual checkpoints).
Starts and finishes in downtown Ensenada on Boulevard Costero in front of the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center, marking the fourth straight year this race has been able to finish on Blvd. Costero. Starting and finishing in Ensenada, this year’s tight and technical course will run in a clockwise direction for the seventh straight year. It includes a wide variety of terrain and the overall course is similar to last year, with the normal weather-caused changes. The course runs East to Ojos Negros area (race mile 34.90), South through Tres Hermanos (rm52.97) to near Lllano Colorado (rm72.54) then East and Northeast up over the top of the 5,000-foot Summit (rm116.43), looping east and NE to Cahabuzo Junction (rm144.14) South into the Laguna Salada desert (rm 158.53) running parallel to the Sea of Cortez to Borrego (rm206.83) and then back Northwest, Southwest past the Mike’s Sky Ranch turnoff, North to near Valle de la Trinidad (rm262.70), followed by a West travel section, turning north at the Pacific Ocean (rm318.20) then East, North and back West for the final charge back into Ensenada. The first 35.18 miles will be used both outgoing and incoming. The course also includes the traditional 30-plus mile run along the shores of the Pacific Ocean from race-mile 318.20 to 358.49. There are five highway pavement areas on the course, 14.22 miles total, with a maximum speed limit of 60 mph.
