Biography

Building his legacy in SCORE's legendary Class 1/2-1600 division, this Huntington Beach-based desert racer captured one of the most prestigious victories in off-road racing when he and co-driver C.J. Hutchins claimed the 2012 SCORE Baja 500 class championship. The triumph placed Coleman among an elite group of racers who have conquered the grueling 500-mile test through Baja California's unforgiving terrain, joining a winner's circle that includes legends like Rob MacCachren, Troy Herbst, and the McMillin racing dynasty.

The 2012 Baja 500 victory represented the pinnacle of Coleman's SCORE career, showcasing his ability to navigate the technical challenges and strategic demands of one of desert racing's most competitive classes. Class 1/2-1600 requires a unique blend of speed, endurance, and mechanical precision, as teams push modified Volkswagen-based machines through hundreds of miles of desert at racing speeds.

Operating from Southern California's off-road racing hub, Coleman has established himself as a respected competitor in SCORE's premier desert racing series. His Baja 500 championship victory stands as testament to his dedication to the sport and his ability to perform under the extreme conditions that define Baja racing.

Congratulations Jason Coleman, for winning the 34th annual SCORE San Felipe 250 Class Trophy Truck Spec!

JASON COLEMAN HIT HIS MARKS | May 2021 Issue

We had no plans to come to the 2021 SCORE San Felipe 250 until a few weeks before the race,” Jason Coleman admitted. “When the number of entries began stacking up, we thought, ‘hey this could be fun, let’s go to Mexico.’ That was that.” A hectic pace of preparation for the race occurred during those three weeks to put Coleman’s plan together. “It was me, my navigator/mechanic Brady Melin, and my dad Joe,” said Coleman. “A couple of buddies that were already going to be down in the area helped chase and pit. The result was spectacular considering the minimal crew we could round up at the last minute.” Read More
