Racing alongside his son Kaden in the #1995 Polaris RZR 1000, this veteran Utah desert racer brings decades of off-road experience to the SCORE International championship series. Wells demonstrated his enduring competitive spirit with a hard-fought third-place finish in the Pro UTV NA class at the legendary SCORE Baja 500, piloting their machine through 542 grueling miles of Baja California's most challenging terrain alongside co-drivers Jesus Gutierrez and Rory L'Hommedieu.
The St. George native's racing philosophy centers on mentoring the next generation while maintaining his own competitive edge. His partnership with 19-year-old Kaden represents the perfect blend of seasoned experience and youthful determination that defines modern desert racing. Wells' tactical approach and mechanical expertise have proven invaluable in navigating the technical demands of Baja's unforgiving landscape, from rocky mountain passes to high-speed desert washes.
At 54, Wells continues to prove that age is just a number in desert racing, consistently running competitive times against much younger competitors. His commitment to excellence and family racing legacy makes him a respected figure in the tight-knit SCORE community, where his Utah-based operation has earned recognition for both performance and sportsmanship throughout the grueling championship season.
A total of 36 UTV teams descended into San Felipe to compete at the 52nd BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 500 Presented by 4 Wheel Parts. The largest concentration of teams and racers was within the Pro UTV FI, class, and as such, the competition was as tough as the course itself. 2019 SCORE Baja 500 class winner Craig Scanlon, 2019 SCORE Baja 1000 class winner Justin Lambert, 2019 SCORE Baja 400 class winner Wes Miller, and 2019 SCORE Pro UTV FI Class Champion Wayne Matlock were some of the racers wanting to add this 2020 race to their list of accomplishments, but winning it would not be as easy as those other times.
