Building on recent triumphs including a commanding Class 1 victory at the 2023 K&N SCORE Baja 400 Presented by VP Racing, this 53-year-old Apple Valley veteran continues to prove his elite-level competitiveness in desert racing's most demanding arena. The 2023 season also delivered a hard-fought second place at the legendary SCORE Baja 500, adding another podium finish to an already impressive resume.
His consistency at the sport's highest level was further demonstrated with a second-place class finish at the 2022 SCORE Baja 1000, showcasing his ability to excel in the world's premier desert endurance race. This recent success builds upon a racing career that dates back over two decades, including a notable Class 1/2-1600 victory at the 1997 SCORE Baja 500 that established him as a force in unlimited open-wheel competition.
The SCORE archives reveal his deep involvement in the sport's biggest events, including co-driving duties with racing legend Robby Gordon in the 2017 SCORE Baja 1000 Trophy Truck class. His name appears throughout multiple racing programs, reflecting both his longevity and dedication to SCORE desert racing's most challenging competitions across various classes and vehicle configurations.
The rough, tight, and technical course of the 3rd SCORE Baja 400 Presented by VP Racing fuels was especially hard on the Class 1 buggies. Six of the best teams competed and all had to drive slower than their usual pace to complete the course, but not without additional vehicle problems along the way. Since the Class 1 competitors decided among themselves not to participate in qualifying, they agreed the starting order for their class would be in the order in which they entered the race. This put 2021 Class Champion Cody Parkhouse in the No. 100 Jimco buggy off the starting line first, followed by the No. 121 Jefferies Buggy of Damen Jefferies, and the No 138. Jimco Buggy of Kyle Quinn. Brad Wilson in the No. 153 Jimco Buggy would start fourth, followed by Brendan Gaughan in the No. 162 HMS Buggy and Cody Reid in the No. 168 Alumi Craft Buggy. Read More
The Class 1 battle at the 35th King Shocks SCORE San Felipe 250 seemed like it was going to be a battle against some of the best buggy racers and teams in the sport. As the day began, Conner McMullen in the No. 140 buggy started first after the best qualifying run, followed by Brendan Gaughan in the No. 162 car, and Jeff Blanchard in the No. 110 buggy. 2021 Class Champions Brian and Cody Parkhouse started third and were in a good position to win the race once again. Shelby and Cody Reid started fourth, so with the two Wilson teams heading off the starting line fifth and sixth, it seemed like the odds were against them to take the class win. Read More
