A legendary figure in SCORE desert racing, this Fort Worth veteran has been conquering Baja's unforgiving terrain for decades, most recently competing in the prestigious Vintage Trailblazer class aboard a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. His extensive racing resume showcases remarkable versatility across multiple disciplines, from his early days in Quarter Midgets to becoming a dominant force in short-course off-road racing before transitioning to the ultimate test of endurance racing in Baja.
Beyond his impressive driving credentials, Bobby Patton has established himself as a cornerstone of the SCORE Trophy Truck community through Patton Racing Engines. Since the mid-1980s, when teams relied on relatively stock powerplants for survival, Patton revolutionized the sport by adapting hot-rod engines that had proven successful in short-course competition. His pioneering work helped shape the early Trophy Truck era, building race-winning engines for legendary teams including Paul and Dave Simon, among other prominent competitors.
Now at 62, Patton continues to demonstrate his passion for desert racing while maintaining his reputation as one of the sport's most respected engine builders. His dual role as both competitor and industry innovator exemplifies the spirit of SCORE racing.
In the SCORE TT Legends class, Rolf Helland in the No. 37L truck has beenn undefeated all season. But that didn’t necessarily mean he was assured a win at the 54th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 Presented by 4 Wheel Parts. Read More
