Biography

Racing out of the high desert of southeastern New Mexico, this 58-year-old veteran has proven that experience and determination can triumph over the brutal terrain of Baja California. Pat Sims captured the racing world's attention with his podium-finishing third-place performance in the Trophy Truck Spec class at the 2023 SCORE Baja 1000, demonstrating that he remains a formidable competitor against fields packed with younger rivals.

His success isn't limited to the legendary 1000-mile marathon. Sims previously earned another coveted podium spot with a third-place Trophy Truck Spec finish at the historic 2018 SCORE Baja 500, where he co-drove with Dave Cole in their #211 ESM Chevrolet. That impressive run saw them navigate the challenging 542-mile course in just over 14 hours, showcasing the consistency and mechanical preparation that defines championship-caliber desert racing.

Operating from Eunice, New Mexico, Sims represents the grassroots spirit of SCORE International desert racing, where dedication and smart preparation can overcome well-funded factory efforts. His dual podium achievements at both the Baja 500 and Baja 1000 place him among an elite group of racers who have conquered Baja's most demanding tests.
