His breakthrough performances include a second-place class finish at the prestigious 2018 SCORE Baja 500, where he piloted his Polaris XP1000 alongside co-drivers Luis Dominguez and Nick Tenbruin to a strong 14:57:57 finish time, trailing only veteran racer Kristen Matlock.

Building on that success, Poelman secured another podium finish with second place in class at the legendary 2017 SCORE Baja 1000, demonstrating his ability to excel in the world's most challenging desert race.
