ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico— Bryce Menzies’ name is written in golden letters in the SCORE Baja 400 record book, the youngest race in the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship, an event that has held all six of its editions in the friendly port city of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
Menzies, an exceptional talent behind the wheel of a truck, buggy, or UTV, has been racing since he was a child. He learned the secrets of Off-Road racing from desert and short-course legends such as Rob ‘The G.O.A.T.,’ MacCachren, Larry Job, Bruce Fraley, and Bryan Freeman, helping shape his driving style and develop him into one of the winningest drivers in SCORE Trophy Truck history. Menzies has 12 career SCORE Trophy Truck victories, a total he shares with Andy McMillin.
McMillin is now part of Menzies Motorsports for the 2026 season and will drive the new second-generation No. 21 Ford Raptor Mason in the SCORE Baja 400, while Menzies will be behind the wheel of his first-generation No. 7 Ford Raptor Mason for Round 3 of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship.
Ensenada is located 116 kilometers south of the U.S. border crossing at San Diego, on the western side of the Baja California peninsula, with the Pacific Ocean running alongside the city. All four SCORE events in 2026 will be held in Mexico, specifically within the Baja California peninsula, marking the 11th consecutive year this format has taken place.
Founded originally in 1973 in Southern California, the four-race 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship is being held exclusively in Baja California, Mexico, for the 11th consecutive season. SCORE is known globally as the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Organization.
OVERALL WINNERS
--TRUCKS AND CARS
In the first six years of the SCORE Baja 400 there have been only three drivers who have won the overall in this race, three veteran SCORE Trophy Truck drivers—Ryan Arciero, Bryce Menzies, and Alan Ampudia.
Arciero, Foothill Ranch, Calif., was the overall winner in the inaugural race in 2019 in a Herbst/Smith-built (now 1 Nine Industries) Ford F-150, while Menzies, Las Vegas, amazingly won the SCORE Baja 400 for four consecutive years (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) in a Mason-built Ford Raptor and Alan Ampudia, Ensenada, Mexico, won’s the overall in last year’s race in another Mason-built Ford Raptor.

Leading the motorcycle overall’s have been Justin Morgan, El Cajon, Calif. (2019, 2024) and Bolivia’s Juan Carlos Salvatierra (2022, 2023). Morgan’s teams won on Honda motorcycles while Salvatierra’s teams won on KTM motorcycles.
MEXICO
During the six-year history of the SCORE Baja 400, Mexico has produced several overall winners, including Ensenada’s Alan Ampudia in the four-wheel division and SCORE Trophy Truck. Ampudia is one of only two racers who have captured both the SCORE Baja Grand Slam and the SCORE Baja Triple Crown.
The SCORE Baja Triple Crown is awarded to racers who have earned overall victories in SCORE’s three traditional Baja races: the SCORE San Felipe 250, SCORE Baja 500, and SCORE Baja 1000.
The SCORE Baja Grand Slam recognizes racers who have scored overall victories in those three historic events, along with the newest race in the championship, the SCORE Baja 400.
SOUTH AMERICA
South America has also made its mark on the list of SCORE Baja 400 motorcycle overall winners, led by Bolivian national hero Juan Carlos ‘Chavo’ Salvatierra and Argentina’s Diego Llanos, with both racers accomplishing the feat aboard a KTM 450SX-F motorcycle.
Salvatierra earned his victories in the ‘Off-Road Capital of the World’ in the 2022 and 2023 editions of the SCORE Baja 400, while Llanos brought glory to Argentina in 2023 as a teammate of Juan Carlos Salvatierra on Mexican soil.
MANUFACTURER’S SCORE-card
Ford is undefeated in the SCORE Baja 400 with six overall victories in 4-wheel vehicles and six in overall Engine winners.
For the motorcycle competition, Honda has four moto overalls and KTM has two moto overalls.
In the tire competition for 4-wheel vehicles, Toyo Tires has won five consecutive times while BFGoodrich Tires won the inaugural even in 2019.
GROWING GLOBALLY
Interest in the SCORE Baja 400 continues to grow globally. Entries have come from 35 U.S. States, the U.S. Territory Puerto Rico and 20 total countries.
In addition to the USA and host country Mexico, entries in the first six years of this race have come from Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Denmark, Ecuador, England, France, Greece, India, Israel, New Zealand, Peru, South Africa, Thailand, and Venezuela.
THE GREEN FLAG
Desert racers seeking victory in the SCORE Baja 400 will receive the green flag on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 5 a.m. PT on Ensenada’s iconic Boulevard Costero, while the car and truck classes will start at 10 a.m. PT in front of hundreds of enthusiastic fans expected to line one of the most popular avenues in the ‘Cinderella of the Pacific.’
The official time limit for teams to be considered official finishers will be 16 hours, during a season in which SCORE International is celebrating its 53rd year as the worldwide leader in desert racing, having organized races in Mexico, the United States, and Germany.
TECH INSPECTION
Tech inspection and contingency row of race vehicles by SCORE Tech officials will take place on Friday, September 11, 2026, along Ensenada’s vibrant Bulevar Costero, which will also serve as the start and finish area for the event, located just steps from the Pacific Ocean.
METHOD RACE WHEELS QUALIFYING
In a format inspired by Formula 1 and the NASCAR Series, SCORE will conduct the Method Race Wheels Qualifying session on Thursday, September 10, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT, to determine the starting grid in the following classes: SCORE Trophy Truck, SCORE Trophy Truck 2WD, SCORE Trophy Truck Legend, Class 1, and Trophy Truck Spec.
Entries received after Friday, August 28 will be assigned the next available starting positions within each qualifying category. The qualifying order will be determined by SCORE based on the date each team completes its online registration.
The Method Race Wheels Qualifying is a non-spectator event held on a private property course and will be broadcast live across SCORE digital platforms.
